This document describes the important rules which the authors strictly follow when they prepare the manuscripts for Genome Informatics published by World Scientific Publishing Company.
The authors should use the following software to prepare their manuscripts:
We strongly recommend to use LaTeX2e because of the editorial process and quality of publication.
Also, please inform the volume editor (Program Committee Chair) whether it is done in Windows, Unix or Macintosh format.
Authors can download our template files, irrespective of the trim size of the book as agreed in the publishing contract, from the web site of Japanese Society for Bioinformatics (JSBi):
When preparing the manuscripts, the authors should use the template files and should strictly follow the instructions described in the template files.
Because the volume editor will not edit the manuscripts, the manuscripts will be printed and published as they appear. Therefore, violations of the styles in templates, e.g. change of baseline, fonts, reference style, etc., will damage the quality of the whole volume seriously. Even if the length of the manuscript exceeds the given page limit, the authors are not allowed to change these styles. Please consider that the page style is more important than the page limit.
Genome Informatics is also published electronically as “Genome Informatics Online” at URL:
http://www.jsbi.org/modules/journal/index.php/index.html
where the authors can provide data, appendix, etc. as supplementary material.
This section describes the most important specifications of the manuscripts for LaTeX2e and RTF (WORD) users. Please be careful not to include other fonts such as Japanese fonts and Chinese fonts, in particular, symbols for “blank”.

Please prepare all line drawings, halftones (gray scale) and colour illustrations in high resolution. The requirements are:
Authors should provide their manuscripts in CRC form. Whether in PDF files or PostScript files, please ensure all postscript fonts, i.e. Type 1 fonts are embedded. Bitmap fonts, e.g. Type 3 fonts are not readable on the screen and the search functions will not be made available.
The authors should send the following ''source files'' to the volume editor.
1. RTF (WORD) file prepared by using the template MS WORD file provided by the publisher.
2. PDF file for camera-ready version
3. Supplementary material for electronic version
Please ensure that quotation marks are paired correctly, e.g. “good quotes” rather than ''bad quotes''.
Italicized words should not be done in Tex's mathmode when using TeX and Latex2e. This will result in unusual character spacing. Use the proper control sequence of “\”.
Use a hyphen (-) for compound words (e.g. ‘two-dimensional’), an en-dash (--) to link numbers, nouns or names (e.g. 220.240 Volts, electron--positron collisions, Einstein. Rosen--Podolsky paradox), and an em-dash (---) to link sentences or clauses --- this is what we would regard as a ‘normal’ dash.
Note this set of common abbreviations:
Equation(s) --- Eq./Eqs.
Figure(s) --- Fig./Figs.
Reference(s) --- Ref./Refs.
Section(s) --- Sec./Secs.
Please spell in full if any of the above is the first word of the sentence.
l Latin words are italized, e.g.
et al., a priori, in situ, ibid. etc.
JSBi will hold the copyright of the papers published in Genome Informatics. The authors must send a signed copyright form to the volume editor before publication. One author may sign on behalf of all authors of a particular paper. The copyright form can be downloaded from

The signed copyright form may be sent as a PDF file or by fax to the volume editor. We recommend to send the signed copyright form in a PDF files by email.
