The flood of information resulting from genome projects shaped the
main-stream in life science, called bioinformatics. It is now common
to use the WWW and programming tools to analyze biological information. To
cope with more complex data on a large scale, we require sophisticated
mathematical tools such as neural networks or hidden Markov models, and
high-speed technologies such as vector- and distributed computing.
The theme of this WG is to design the education curriculum to raise
a new generation of investigators and engineers with knowledge both in advanced information
processing and molecular biology, so that they can become leaders in the coming bio-information age.
| WG Schedule: | 3-4 meetings a year |
The council of JSBi (2002/03/28) ratified the Education Curriculum for Bioinformatics (1st edition).
