Call for Applications: IAB Early-Career Independent Research Fellowship

【Position Overview】
We are seeking applications for the "Keio IAB Early-Career Independent Research Fellow"
(IAB Special Research Fellow) position. This role is designed for early-career researchersto pursue independent research themes with the status equivalent to a PrincipalInvestigator. Appointees will receive an annual research budget of approximately 2 millionJPY and are eligible to apply for external funding, such as KAKENHI (Grants-in-Aid forScientific Research).


【Research Fields】
We cover the broad spectrum of biosciences and life sciences, with a particular focus on areas such as multi-omics, AI, computational life science, systems biology, synthetic biology, microbiology, biomaterials, cancer research, medical science, and environmental life science. We welcome original proposals—whether in computational or experimental fields, or spanning basic to applied research—that leverage IAB’s extensive infrastructure of cutting-edge equipment.

【Eligibility】
We are looking for early-career researchers who have obtained their doctoral degree within approximately the last seven years. Applications are welcome from those expecting to receive their doctorate by the time of appointment, as well as from researchers currently residing overseas; applications may be submitted in either Japanese or English. Informal inquiries and preliminary consultations with potential mentors prior to application are also welcome. Contract extensions are available to accommodate periods of prenatal/postnatal leave or childcare leave.

【Selection Criteria】
Selection is based not merely on the number of publications, but on originality, potential synergy with the IAB research environment, the prospects for the research to develop independently, and the candidate's career vision for the three years following the appointment.
