Position Description:
The Institute of Mathematics for Industry at Kyushu University (Fukuoka,
JAPAN) invites applicants for an ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR POSITION ("Jun-Kyoju"
in Japanese) in the division of Advanced Mathematics Technology, beginning
after April 1, 2016.
Candidates who have strong theoretical background in the field of data
science, understand our Math-for-Industry activity, and are willing to
promote it, will be considered. It is preferable that the candidates have
experience of collaboration with industry and/or other academic fields. The
selection will be based on the achievement and capability of the candidates
in research of data science.

Salary:
Salary will be determined based on qualification and experience in
accordance with the wage system of Kyushu University.

Term:
The term of contract is up to the mandatory retirement age of 65.

Duties:
All faculty members in IMI are teaching staffs at the Graduate School of
Mathematics (“Suuri Gakufu” in Japanese) as well. So they are responsible
for teaching and advising the graduate and undergraduate students. The
candidates are also expected to have teaching duties for statistics-related
courses offered by the Graduate School of Systems Life Sciences. All faculty
members in Mathematics (IMI and the Faculty of Mathematics) share
administration duties, such as assistance for the entrance examinations and
committee activities for the Institute, the Graduate School, and the
University.

necessary,         other documents such as research reports.
5.      Summary of research achievements.
6.      Description of future research projects. Description of ideas for
education.
7.      List of names and addresses of three references.
8.      A letter of recommendation from one of the references.
